Why I love UD/Why I Recruit for UD: After calling UD my home for four years, I really love the integration of the education, faith and community on both campuses, here in Irving and in Rome. All of these elements create such a wonderful atmosphere to develop and grow personally.
Favorite Spot on Campus: The Mall, the central area that connects many of our buildings, is one of my favorite places on campus! It is a great place to hang out with friends, enjoy Music on the Mall (students can DJ music every Friday afternoon to help kick off the weekend) or get some studying done in between classes. Also the Mall is home to many of UD's famous traditions, like Oktoberfest, Mallapalooza and the "jail" during Charity Week.
Where Do You Hang Out in Dallas? Visiting the Dallas Arts District is always an adventure, since there is such a mix of culture, unique exhibits and always something new to see, all within walking distance of the DART!
Favorite Book: Utopia by St. Thomas More
Favorite Place to Eat in DFW: There are so many great places in Dallas, but my two top favorites are Opening Bell Coffee, which is great for a fantastic cappuccino for all those missing Rome, and Velvet Taco, for a different take on traditional Tex-Mex.
Favorite UD Event: Groundhog
Favorite/Coolest Place I have Visited: During the Greece trip in my Rome semester, we had the opportunity to climb up Mount Lycabettus, which is the highest point in Athens. The view was inspiring, and it was like looking at a map of Athens and the Piraeus. Even now, looking at pictures from my Rome semester, some of the most fantastic images are from that hike!
Advice to Prospective Students: Take the time to reflect on what you are looking for in a school. This will help so much when you are visiting schools, so you are able to see how the different schools fulfill or surprise you.
