The Institute of Philosophic Studies awards to all admitted Ph.D. students full tuition scholarships for all course work that is required for the degree. Ordinarily, IPS students take three or four courses per semester, and at our present rate of tuition per credit hour ($760), this scholarship amounts to awards of $6840 or $9120 per semester.
In addition, the IPS sometimes offers admitted students a living stipend of $2,000 in their first year of study and more usually $3,000 in their second and third years, with the hope that further support can be continued until they complete their course work in their fourth year and prepare to sit for their comprehensive exams. All these supplements are dependent upon the performance, whatever that might be, of our endowment funds.
