MS in Finance

Beginning in the Fall 2013 term, the College of Business will be offering a Master of Science with a concentration in Finance. This program is ideal for students with prior studies in accounting and/or finance who wish to expand their knowledge in the area or advance in their current career.

Master of Science Requirements

Core Courses (9 credit hours):

  • BUAD 6300 Business Analytics
  • FINA 6305 Managerial Finance
  • BUAD 8310 Business & Society

Six MS core classes (18 hours):

  • ACCT 5325 Intermediate Financial Accounting I
  • FINA 7310 Intermediate Financial Management
  • FINA 7320 International Financial Markets
  • FINA 7322 Investments
  • FINA 7327 Corporate Valuation
  • FINA 7350 Derivatives

One capstone/practicum course (3 hours)

  • FINA 8395 Portfolio Management

Students with no prior accounting or finance coursework may be required to complete additional prerequisite courses as part of the MS Finance degree.

Please note that not all courses are available immediately.  Students who elect to pursue the MS Finance should follow prerequisite and rotation guidelines.

The MBA degree can be combined with a concentration in Finance, but it will require additional credit hours, at an additional cost.
