On July 24, more than 80 risk and compliance officers, human resources professionals and UD alumni, faculty and staff gathered on the Texas Instruments (TI) campus in Dallas for the Satish and Yasmin Gupta College of Business Sustainable Business Network (SBN) summer networking event. In his talk titled "Ethics: Beyond Words and Slogans," TI Vice President and Director of Ethics David Solomon spoke about the challenges and successes TI has faced in striving to promote an ethical culture across its organization.

The University of Dallas Classics Department is now offering two new graduate degrees in Latin and ancient Greek studies--a Master of Arts in Classics and a Master of Classics. Both degrees are tailored toward students who seek to enter a doctoral program in classics or those who teach the classical languages at either the primary or secondary level.

High school summer Rome students made a stop at the Irving campus before becoming "Romers" this summer. Program participants kicked off Shakespeare in Italy and Latin in Rome with a day in Texas touring the campus, meeting faculty, chatting with admission counselors in the Cap Bar and viewing and discussing the movie "Julius Caesar." They flew to Rome Thursday, July 9.

A mere two months after their graduation, 83.3 percent of the Class of 2015 is either employed or continuing their educations in graduate or professional programs. Four programs can boast a 100 percent rate for their graduates having already "landed" in their first destinations: Classics and Classical Philology, Human Sciences in the Contemporary World, Pastoral Ministry and Physics.

The Psychology Department is now offering a Master of Psychology degree with clinical concentration that can be used to fulfill requirements to sit for the Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) exam. Graduate psychology students can pursue a master's degree with clinical concentration in a psychology department whose humanistic focus on the human person's freedom and responsibility is ideal for shaping counselors.

For the second year in a row, UD is hosting the Texas Pre-Freshman Engineering Program (TexPREP), which was founded in 1976 by a mathematics professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).

Kat Cammack, BA '19, says that the study of classics encompasses all of her skills and interests. "I read the most gorgeous works of literature ever written, solve puzzles, analyze history through psychological and philosophical lenses, study monumental art and grow familiar with the thinkers who formed the basis of Western thought, all while exponentially improving my grasp of the English language," she said.

UD, in anticipation of the need for more Catholic school teachers to serve North Texas' exponentially growing Catholic population, will offer a Catholic teacher certificate beginning this fall. The new graduate-level program, which meets all of the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department teaching method requirements, will be administered through the Department of Education and Braniff Graduate School.

Rising-senior Zachary Clark, 21 years old, died on Friday as a result of a car accident. Clark, who lived in the Dallas area, was on his way back to Minnesota, where he was working as a Totus Tuus Ministry missionary.

The University of Dallas' Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business will begin offering Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses at the Cascades Event Center in The Colony, Texas, beginning with the fall 2015 term. The program expansion comes as several multi-billion-dollar companies relocate thousands of jobs to the Plano area with additional corporate relocations expected due to Texas' favorable business climate.

The University of Dallas has been included, once again, in the "Fiske Guide to Colleges 2016," making it the only Catholic college or university to receive such an honor in Texas or the southwest. This is the eighth consecutive year the university has been recognized by the Fiske Guide for being one of the nation's best and most interesting universities.

At UD, spring break often involves much more than a trip to the beach. This past spring break, three senior psychology majors and one psychology graduate student made the trek to Amsterdam to present research at the International Convention of Psychological Science.

Greer Christian, who will graduate with her MBA in just a few weeks, is vice president and community development officer at Wells Fargo Bank. In that role, Christian is charged with serving as the link between the San Francisco-based bank and its stakeholders and the communities it serves.

The University of Dallas' Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business will offer two new Master of Science programs -- business analytics and global business -- beginning this fall. Applications are now being accepted for the fall 2015 term. Both 30-credit-hour programs will be offered online and on ground.

The university has named Jonathan J. Sanford dean of the Constantin College of Liberal Arts, the university's undergraduate college of liberal arts and sciences. A nationally recognized ethics scholar, Sanford previously served as associate vice president for academic affairs and professor of philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville (FUS).
