The Office of Personal Career Development at the University of Dallas requires all employers to comply with all applicable state and federal civil rights laws prohibiting discrimination in hiring and in the workplace, which includes discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex (gender or gender identity), sexual orientation, age, marital status, religion, disability, national origin, ethnic origin, or prior military service.
The University of Dallas Office of Personal Career Development and NACE are committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information provided by students, alumni, and employers as users of the Office of Career Services. Employers use NACElink Network to post employment opportunities and search the central resume database directly on NACElink.com, through the University of Dallas Office of Career Services website or NACE'S website (NACEWeb), where there is a direct link to NACElink Network.
The University of Dallas Office of Personal Career Development uses NACElink Network to provide a web-based system for posting jobs, maintaining a résumé database, registering its job seekers and for the employers who recruit at Harvey University of Dallas. Students/alumni use NACElink Network through their college/university career centers to post resumes and review job opportunities. NACE's commitment to all participants – schools, employers, students/alumni – is to maintain the confidentiality of all information collected on NACElink Network and NACE will not sell, transmit, or disclose, in any fashion, this information to any other organization. NACElink Network is the host server, storing and maintaining the data. NACE also has a partner, Symplicity, which will provide backup hosting services to NACE's servers and is as committed to privacy as NACE. NACE and Symplicity have access to the data in aggregate form.
Employers that use NACElink Network directly through NACElink or through UD's Office of Personal Career Development will have access to participant's (i.e. applicant's) resumes and the personal information contained therein for recruiting, interviewing, and hiring purposes. NACE and University of Dallas are not responsible for what employers do with the personal information that is available or accessible on this site.
Students and Alumni
Personally identifiable information that is collected and stored on NACElink servers will be used to enable registered employers to access and use the various features of the NACElink Network system, such as posting jobs, scheduling interviews, and using resume search engines. Students/alumni will be able to access the various features of the NACElink Network system, i.e., job posting, résumé databases, and job-search agents. Communications with employers will be enhanced regarding use of NACElink Network, site changes, or information on possible events/activities associated with recruiting.
NACE receives and collects personal identifiable information about a student/alumni participant, (name, contact information, demographic information, academic history, employment history, etc.) via NACElink Network after the participant registers for services and uploads resumes, cover letters and other documents containing personal information. The Office of Personal Career Development may access some of the job seeker's personal information in order to send email using communication tools on the site, to publish resumes in the school's resume books, and to send resumes to registered employers on behalf of the students/alumni. While NACE endeavors to restrict access to this database to eligible employers, NACE cannot guarantee that other parties will not, without consent, gain access to the database. University of Dallas and NACE will collect information from employers utilizing the site, such as contact information (phone numbers or email addresses), unique identifiers (NACE membership, account numbers, or passwords to NACElink Network), and demographic information (location, type of organization, size of organization). If financial information is ever collected, it will be used only to bill an organization for associated fees. Credit card information will be deleted as soon as the transaction is completed and will not be stored on NACE's or Symplicity's servers.
Opportunities posted on CareerLink may or may not be reviewed by the Office of Personal Career Development before posting. Users are urged to review the opportunities on a case by case basis and use caution and common sense before applying to any opportunity. The Office of Personal Career Development strongly advises students to not disclose social security numbers, credit card information or bank account numbers to unknown employers. The Office of Personal Career Development cannot be held responsible and/or liable for any damages, real or imagined, past, present or future, from the information contained in or requested by the opportunities posted on CareerLink. Neither NACE, NACElink/Symplicity, nor DirectEmployers reviews opportunities posted on CareerLink or at NACElink.com. Site users are urged to validate job postings and use caution and common sense when applying.
Cookies, which are small text files recorded in a participant's hard drive, are employed by thousands of sites to enhance participant's web viewing experience. Cookies allow sites to "remember" participants across pages of a site and across multiple visits to a site. When participants access NACElink Network, it will set a cookie while they are onthe site. Once participants log out of the site or close their browser window the cookie is deleted. Thus, NACElink Network will not store information as to the number of times a participant visits the site. It will be necessary for participants to login each time they
access NACElink Network.
NACE takes precautions to protect the participant's information. When participants submit sensitive information via the Web site, the information is protected both online and off-line. In addition, the job seeker and employer data is password protected, so only the participant can access this information. All personally identifiable information collected by NACE is stored in limited-access servers. NACElink Network uses firewalls and has technical, administrative, and physical security measures and safeguards in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under NACE's
NACE and NACElink Network are not affiliated with University of Dallas and therefore, University of Dallas cannot guarantee, nor does it otherwise accept responsibility for, any portion of this Statement that depends on NACE's representations and its compliance with those representations.
Second Round Interviews
Employers often schedule students for second round interviews the next day after their initial interviews. This practice does not provide any flexibility to the student, or offer any consideration for his/her previously scheduled commitments. Ideally, second round interviews should not be scheduled within three days of your first round interviews/notification of your second round interviews. Students have classes, exams and other prior obligations that they cannot cancel on a moment's notice. Often, if they are unable to attend at your requested times, they feel that they will be eliminated from the pool of considered candidates.
We suggest that students not be immediately eliminated from the pool of second round candidates should they be unable to meet on the first requested date. Alternative options should be provided to students who cannot meet with you on the first scheduling attempt. Organizations that have been flexible with scheduling are often able to attract and attain the strongest candidates.
Consistent with the guidelines of the National Association of Colleges & Employers, we ask that students be given at least two (2) weeks to make an informed and responsible decision. Providing students with insufficient time to decide on an offer can be detrimental to both parties. An exploding offer on a signing bonus is also considered inappropriate.
Offer Policy to Summer Interns
If you would like to make a full-time offer to a summer intern, we request that you allow the student two weeks to accept/decline the offer. This will ensure that the student has the time necessary to make an informed decision.
We encourage employers to not serve alcohol as part of the recruitment process. Given the issues college campuses are having with alcohol use among students, serving alcohol at a reception can send the wrong message. Many college students are younger than the state's drinking age as well. Our concern is for your liability and the safety and welfare of our students, especially when attending an off-site event that would require students to drive back to campus in a safe manner.
You are invited to participate in our recruiting programs and events if you are an employer with actual or anticipated bona fide entry-level positions and career-related paid internships. A bona fide position is defined as a career opportunity that is salaried (not 100% commission), and does not require the candidate to pay a fee for training or other job-related expenses. Graduate and professional school representatives may also schedule events to recruit University of Dallas students.
Home Office Policy
Due to liability and risk management issues, the college does not endorse interns or job applicants into a home office or home training situation.
