Janis Townsend

Janis directs the operation of the HR department coordinating policy and procedure issues and employee relations. The majority of her time is spent consulting with managers and department heads on strategic issues, performance management and supervision of the HR staff. She also serves on the University's International Committee. Janis has been designated by the University to be the Title IX coordinator, ADA/Section 504 coordinator and Age Discrimination Act coordinator.

 Janis graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education as well as a Master of Education in Counseling and Family Studies. Janis has over 20 years Human Resources experience in private industry in the real estate, financial services and software industries.

On a personal note, Janis attempts to keep up with three active children and enjoys bicycling and quilting. She actively leads the implementation of mission work in Peru with plans to actively serve the spiritual and social needs of the poor in Lima with the culmination of a first project at the end of 2006.


Evelyn Burch

Evelyn Burch works in the Human Resources Office as the Staffing and Recruiting Mgr.  Her duties include supporting recruitment, screening of exempt and non-exempt applicants for the University, review of job analysis and evaluations, sourcing of candidates internally and externally, job postings, applicant tracking, communication with applicants, job offers, and providing input for policies and procedures. 

Before working for UD, Evelyn worked for Lockheed Martin Corporation for almost 11 years in various positions (Staffing and Recruitment, Compensation Analyst, Internal Investigator, EEO and Diversity Rep, and Human Resources Business Partner).  Evelyn also served 9 years in the United States Air Force.  She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in HR and Business from Amberton University in Garland, Texas. 

Evelyn was born on the island of Barbados but grew up in London, England.   When she was a teenager, her family relocated to the United States where she completed high school at Canarsie in Brooklyn, NY.

Janette Bell joined the University of Dallas in December of 2014 to support employee development and performance management. Janette graduated from Minnesota State University with a Master of Arts degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She has over seven years of experience assessing training needs and informing the development of training and other initiatives that support workforce development.

Laney joined the Human Resources department in February 2012.  Laney received her BBA from Baylor University and her MBA in Human Resources from University of Dallas.  Laney handles day-to-day administration of employee benefits, the HR website, maintains the University's electronic employee records, and processes employment action forms and new hire paperwork.

LaCoya handles all student employment concerns, including posting job openings, generating and processing all new hire paperwork for student workers, conducting annual orientation for student supervisors and freshmen student workers and coordinating and leading annual Student Worker Appreciation Week. She also assists with applicant tracking and the new hire process for staff and faculty.   

LaCoya obtained both her BBA in Human Resources Management and MS in Management & Leadership from Tarleton State University. LaCoya and her husband enjoy family time and church.


Benefits Manager

Sarah's duties as Benefits Manager include overall design, implementation, communication and administration of benefits and management of the workers compensation and retirement plan.

Before joining UD, Sarah worked for Texas Wesleyan University for 18 years in human resources, where she obtained her Bachelors of Science Degree.
