Financial Aid

Students taking a minimum of 6 credits are eligible for federal financial aid. One may apply for low-interest student loans through the Office of Financial Aid at the University of Dallas.

For more information, necessary forms, and instructions about loans, please contact the Financial Aid Office directly at (972) 721-5266. Students who currently have outstanding loans must make special arrangements with their lending institutions in order to defer their loans.

Graduate Assistantship

The School of Ministry offers one part-time assistantship position (20 hours/week) to a student enrolled full-time in a graduate program offered by the school.  This assistantship is offered on an annual basis and is renewable for a second year with application and approval of the Dean. 

Benefits

  • Opportunity to develop professional academic, administrative, and pastoral skills associated with pastoral theology

 Duties

Assist faculty in non-teaching functions and academic projects

Assist in development of course notes

 

 

 

 

Provide research assistance for scholarly publications, presentations   and other special projects

Find and prepare academic materials

Support research and administrative follow-up for research grants, other funding sources

Support administrative leadership with institutional projects related to the mission of the School of Ministry

Assist in preparation, set up for lectures, presentations, other special events

Provide communication assistance for social media, web content, email, mail

Support UD Ministry Conference in planning, logistics, communications

Other duties as needed

The graduate assistant reports to the Dean of the School of Ministry. The position is for 20 hours/week during the fall and spring academic terms. Hours reported and recorded weekly.  

 Application Process

Current SOM graduate students are eligible to apply. Incoming applicants to the School of Ministry must have completed the entire application process before being considered for this position. 

 Eligible candidates should send a resume and a letter to the School of Ministry explaining your current status with the School of Ministry, why you want the position and what skills and goals you have that would make you a good candidate for the position. The FAFSA should also be submitted to the University of Dallas.   An interview may be required.

Outside Support

Financial support for graduate study may be available from groups outside the regular channels of University financial aid. Students are encouraged to research and pursue the following additional sources of support, as well as others:

    • Msgr. Larry J. Droll Scholarship for Catholic Laity (visit their website for more information and to read about School of Ministry 2012 recipient - Deborah Greene)
    • Diocesan or parish community support

FAFSA Information

In order to ensure that our students receive the maximum amount of financial aid available to them, we require all applicants for financial aid to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually. This report, along with your application form, must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the application deadline in order to receive financial aid consideration.

Therefore, the following application deadline applies for those seeking financial aid:

Below are the School of Ministry tuition and fee rates for Summer 2015, before financial aid is taken into consideration.

Cost per Credit Hour $760.00
Course Fee per Credit Hour $30.00
Technology Fee per Credit Hour $30.00

Beginning in the Fall 2015 rates will be as follows:

Cost per Credit Hour                        $650.00
