The University of Dallas' Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business was welcomed into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program for excellence in preparing students for the investment profession's most rigorous credentialing program, the Chartered Financial AnalystÂ® (CFA) designation.

Sarah Vukalovic, BA '15, and Ellie Carrano, BA '15, were awarded writing internships with the Phi Beta Kappa (PBK) Society's national office in Washington, D.C. During their internships, which run from January to June 2014, both students will write a minimum of six publishable articles for Phi Beta Kappa's new website, The Key Reporter.

Freshly recovered from finals and jet lag, the Fall Romers shared a few thoughts on the influence their semester abroad has had over their appreciation of their education, just days after their Dec. 10 return. "Rome has helped me to see the Core in a different light because studying and living are so intimately united on the Rome campus that they can't be wedged apart," said John Stein, a theology and philosophy major.

The series launches with a panel discussion on ways that global corporations, mid-sized companies and retailers are profiting from sustainability on Friday, Dec. 13.

UD men who are discerning a vocation to the diocesan priesthood will have a chance to learn more about that vocation at the Saint Andrew Dinner on Jan. 5. Dallas Diocese Bishop Kevin Farrell will be on hand, as well as Dallas priests and seminarians, to speak about their own journeys toward the priesthood.

In the "2013 Open Doors" report released by the Institute of International Education (IIE), UD ranks fifth nationally among master's institutions—and first in Texas—for the percentage of undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs for academic credit. More than 89 percent of UD undergraduates study abroad, according to the study.

The UD Ministry Conference set a new record for attendance during its seventh annual conference last October with more than 5,200 people attending. Conference organizers credit the high attendance to keynote speaker Cardinal Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga, Archbishop of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and recently-appointed chair of the eight advising cardinals to Pope Francis.
