The University of Dallas Ministry Conference will host a special session for all Catholic School Board and Advisory Council members of the Dioceses of Dallas and Fort Worth.

The National Standards and Benchmarks: A Critical Edge for Board Strategy

This interactive session will allow participants to affirm their understanding of the NSBECS and how to effectively use the tools (surveys, benchmarks, rubrics) to discern and develop effective strategies for continuous assessment and oversight of the school's fidelity to mission, academic excellence and operational vitality. Participants will reaffirm their commitment to the critical need for mission focused planning and understand how to use the NSBECS for formulating and shaping a strategic vision.



weitzel-o'neillDr. Patricia Weitzel-O'Neill

Dr. Patricia Weitzel-O'Neill is the Executive Director of the Roche Center for Catholic Education at Boston College, which facilitates innovative, applied research on behalf of the Boston College Lynch School of Education and the Catholic school community, both locally and nationally. Dr. Weitzel-O'Neill is also a co-editor of the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools. Prior to joining the Roche Center, Dr. Weitzel-O'Neill served as Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Washington and as Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and an associate professor of sociology at Trinity Washington University in Washington, DC. She is a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University and holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in sociology from St. Louis University.
