Library Policies

In order to provide the best environment for research and studying, the William A. Blakley Library has established policies for the use of its facilities and materials.

Circulation Policy The circulation policy outlines checkout procedures, loan privileges, and the fines and fees structure, as well as general guidelines for checking out materials from the Blakley Library.
Collection Development Policy The collection development policy is intended to provide guidance, within budgetary and space limitations, for the selection and evaluation of materials which anticipate and meet the needs of the Pasadena community.
Copyright Policy It is the intention of the Blakley Library to abide by the provisions of the copyright law and to educate the University community about the copyright laws governing libraries and fair use. The information provided in this policy outlines the basic guidelines in regards to library print and online materials.
Distance Education Policy The Blakley Library has specific policies regarding borrowing and research requests and needs of distance education students.  The information in this policy determines how students request Blakley library materials and scans from library materials.
Gifts and Donations The Blakley Library welcomes gifts of original materials, books, personal libraries, and other printed items that fall within the scope of our collection. Donation procedures are included in this policy.
Guest Borrowing Policy The Blakley Library welcomes guests. Visitors to the Blakley Library who are not currently enrolled at, or employed by, the University of Dallas are eligible to borrow materials with the purchase of a guest card, and are subject to the provisions in this policy.
Printing Policy The Blakley Library provides printing services for all library patrons.  This policy outlines printing costs and restrictions.
Reserves Policy The Library's reserve system is intended to give students easy access to supplemental class materials. This policy outlines information about both the physical reserve system, as well as the online reserve system.
Resource Objection The William A. Blakley Library protects library collections from removal of materials based on personal bias or prejudice.  This policy outlines the procedures for registering an objection to specific library materials.
