The Catholic University for Independent Thinkers
The University of Dallas was ranked number 23 among the nation's top 100 master's
universities in Washington Monthly magazine's 2012 annual college guide, an increase of 10 spots over last year's ranking.
Washington Monthly – in collaboration with the New American Foundation's Education Policy Program –
rated schools based on "what they are doing for their students and the country by
improving social mobility, producing research and promoting public service."
Among other Catholic universities in the same category, the university ranks fourth
nationally.
The social mobility category gives colleges credit for enrolling many low-income students
and helping them earn degrees, research production focuses on the number of students
who go on to earn doctoral degrees relative to the size of the institution and public
service rankings are based on the number of students who participate in giving back
to the community.
Master's universities include institutions that awarded at least 50 master's degrees
and fewer than 20 doctoral degrees during the update year.
