Juniors Vallery Bergez and Evan Hierholzer were awarded writing internships with the Phi Beta Kappa (PBK) Society's national office in Washington, D.C. During their internships, which run through June 15, 2013, both students will write a minimum of six publishable articles for Phi Beta Kappa's new website, The Key Reporter.
Bergez, an English and French double major, and Hierholzer, an English major, will research and write articles from UD.
"I want to emphasize the importance of education in a culture largely influenced by technological advancement," said Bergez.
"I plan on publishing articles concerning not only PBK members, but also on broader topics involving literature, religion and philosophy, and their interplay with the liberal arts and culture," said Hierholzer.
Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most respected undergraduate honors organization in the United States, selecting junior and senior undergraduates who have demonstrated broad cultural interests, scholarly achievement and good character. The University of Dallas was chartered as the Eta Chapter of Texas in 1989.
