The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Texas State Library have awarded the William A. Blakley Library a Mobile Solutions Grant, which will provide the funds needed to purchase new mobile online catalog software. The end result will be added mobile functionality and a significantly improved mobile experience for library patrons.
"Integrating the online catalog with a mobile platform and improving the library website's appearance and function on mobile devices will give students, faculty and other patrons the ability to search the catalog, renew materials and pay fines right from their smart phones or tablets," said Cherie Hohertz, access services librarian.
The updated site is expected to be live by the end of April, according to Hohertz.
The Mobile Solutions Grant program is a joint venture between IMLS and the Texas State Library. Founded in 2012 after the Texas State Library identified mobile technologies as a top priority for libraries, the grant program helps libraries develop or enhance their mobile presence.
