UD saw a 54 percent increase in total gifts and a 158 percent increase in dollars donated over last year during the Sept. 19 North Texas Giving Day, an event hosted by Communities Foundation of Texas through which donations of $25 or more receive bonus funds. The university received a total of $127,188 from 334 donors.
"We were the university in North Texas with the largest total number of gifts and we placed 19th overall among participating non-profits," said Jim Livernois, director of annual giving programs.
The Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) has announced a 6.4 percent match for funds raised during the event. CFT founded North Texas Giving Day in 2009 in order to serve as a hub connecting local donors with non-profits and helping non-profits gain higher visibility.
The event raised a total of $25.2 million from 75,369 gifts—nearly double last year's gifts. Donors from all 50 states and more than 30 countries participated in the North Texas event.
