UD Partners with EarthPeople to Bring Sustainability Awareness to Businesses

EarthPeople PartnershipThe Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business at the University of Dallas together with EarthPeople, a sustainability communications and consulting firm, has announced a series of speakers and events addressing topics of social consciousness and sustainability in business. The series launches with a panel discussion on ways that global corporations, mid-sized companies and retailers are profiting from sustainability on Friday, Dec. 13.

Presenters include Garrett Boone, The Container Store co-founder and chairman emeritus and Treehouse investor; Nathan Joe Loftice, FedEx Office sustainability leader; and Nelly Rocha Andresen, vice president of quality, environment, health and safety and senior corporate counsel for eRecyclingCorps. Panelists will explore how their organizations define sustainability, the processes they use, the outcomes they expect to achieve and the tangible and intangible benefits of their respective sustainability strategies.

UD's Business and Society Network (BSN), a recently established open forum for building relationships, exchanging best practices and fostering dialogue around issues of corporate social responsibility, is organizing the event.

"I am delighted to join the University of Dallas Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business as a strategic partner in the Business and Society Network," said Anna Clark, president of EarthPeople, LLC. "Because sustainability touches all aspects of business, this network will offer Dallas/Fort Worth professionals, entrepreneurs and students a unique opportunity to leverage multiple perspectives for enhancing their competitive edge."

"At FedEx, our goal is simple: to connect the world in responsible and resourceful ways," said Loftice. "We've seen the great results of connecting people and possibilities around the world, and we realize the success of communities and companies is intertwined."

The morning program, which will meet from 7:30-10 a.m. in the Haggar University Center, includes a complimentary breakfast, 90-minute panel discussion and networking with D/FW business leaders. The event is geared toward professionals, students and business owners interested in integrating sustainability into their operations, human resources, supply chains, marketing and other business functions.
