Business Faculty Receive Quality Matters Certification for Online Course Design

Quality Matters (QM), a nationally recognized faculty peer review organization for online and hybrid course design, has designated three Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business courses with the Quality Matters Certification. The certification recognizes the graduate-level courses Business Analytics, Managerial Finance and Value-Based Marketing and their Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business faculty designers.

"We're proud to have our faculty recognized with the Quality Matters certification for the work they've done delivering high-quality online education to graduate business students at the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business," said the school's Dean Robert Scherer.

Business Analytics, taught by Associate Professor Blake Frank, integrates practices related to the development, analysis and protection of data in an organizational environment.

Associate Professor Dale Fodness' Value-Based Marketing applies ROI concepts and practices to marketing decisions in order to effectively determine marketing's value to an organization.

Managerial Finance, taught by Jenny Gu, assistant professor, familiarizes students with the components of risk-return analyses that managers use to maximize firm value.

QM is a not-for-profit subscription service which provides a rubric and a process that academic institutions use for quality assurance and continuous improvement of online courses. Each course is reviewed by a team of three trained, certified peer reviewers who are all experienced online faculty. The QM process is a collegial, faculty-driven, research-based peer review process based on a rubric consisting of 8 general standards and 40 specific standards that are nationally recognized as reflecting a shared understanding of quality in online and hybrid course design.
