All in all, UD had a successful 2012. The university raised $5.5 million for renovations to campus, earned accreditation from AACSB International after years of hard work, added a few new programs (nursing, engineering and computer science) and enjoyed regular traditions of the UD school year like Groundhog and Charity Week. Here are five other reasons why 2012 was a banner year.
5. Surprise Earthquakes
Some Irving residents may have noticed 3.4 on the Richter scale worth of tremors on Oct. 2 at 11:05 p.m.
4. Serendipitous DART Orange Line Stop Placement
Imagine the UD community's delight when they realized that taking the Orange Line two stops down would drop them right at the doorstep of favorite hangout Club Schmitz.
3. Chinese Dragons on the Mall
How often are there dragons on the Mall?
2. Mole Day
Who could forget Groundhog Day's bookish cousin? As Amy Lindberg said in an interview with the University News, "You may not be a chemistry or science major, but everyone can appreciate an explosion or two."
