Dear University of Dallas Community,
As many are already aware, Charity Week is one of the classic UD traditions that give our campus its rich, if occasionally goofy, culture. By way of booths, contests, auctions and activities, the UD community generously gives of their time and money each year to support local charities and organizations whose causes are close to our hearts. Traditionally, the junior class is responsible for Charity Week and this year we hope to make it the most successful event UD has ever seen- both in making memories for the students and raising funds for those in need. This year our goal is to raise $20,000 for the organizations we've selected:
The Least Among Us, an alumni-founded charity, focuses on providing quality education to impoverished children in El Salvador. This is achieved through student scholarships and improving educational infrastructure.
The Catholic Psychotherapy Association supports mental health practitioners by promoting the development of psychological theory and mental health practice, which encompasses a full understanding of the human person and society in communion with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
Living Water International is a faith-based non-profit organization that helps communities in developing countries acquire safe drinking water in response to the global water crisis.
On Sunday, Oct. 6, we are going to kick off Charity Week with Family Day following the 10 a.m. Mass. Your entire family is warmly invited to participate in one of our favorite UD traditions and reconnect with the UD community.
Additionally, we would like to encourage you to make a donation to Charity Week. Charity Week is run by students yet would not be possible without the generosity of our UD community, especially the families of our students. Donations, which could be used for our Silent Auction, are greatly appreciated (e.g. sports tickets, gift certificates, gift baskets, laser vision, etc.), and monetary donations are always welcome. Please visit udallas.edu/charityweek for more information on how you can donate. No donation is too small and any act of generosity will contribute to making our week a success. You are welcome to drop off or mail donations to the Office of Student Activities (Attention: Charity Week). We greatly appreciate your generosity in this area, and thank you for considering our request.
We are so excited about Charity Week, and hope that some of you will have a chance to join us on Family Day to be part of all the fun! Please keep the students in your thoughts and prayers as they coordinate this event, as well as those in need who will benefit from the week. Thank you so much for your time and for everything you do to help our university.
If you have any questions about Charity Week, feel free to contact Maggie Krewet at email@example.com or Chris Goldkamp at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would love to hear from you and share our plans with you!
