Nalin Ranasinghe, professor of philosophy at Assumption College, will speak on "The Last Temptation of Socrates: The 'Apology' and 'Crito'" on Friday, Nov. 16, at 4:30 p.m. in Braniff 201. A reception will follow.
Ranasinghe has just published "Socrates and the Gods: How to Read Plato's Euthyphro, Apology, and Crito" and will speak here on the book's main topic. The earlier volumes of his Socrates trilogy are "The Soul of Socrates" and "Socrates in the Underworld." He has also edited "Logos and Eros: Essays in Honor of Stanley Rosen." Rosen directed his dissertation in philosophy at Pennsylvania State University. Before the doctorate, Ranasinghe earned a master's degree from the University of Dallas.
