The Board of Governors of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) has named the University of Dallas chapter one of the Premier Chapters for 2012-2013. To qualify, 85 percent of the UD BGS chapter's qualifying members at both the undergraduate and graduate level must accept the invitation to become lifetime members.
The "premier chapter" designation allows the UD chapter to participate in and receive $500 in the BGS matching funds scholarship program for next year. Under this program, one deserving student who is a member of BGS is awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
The purpose of the Beta Gamma Sigma national honor society is to encourage scholarship and accomplishment among students of business administration. Only schools accredited by the AACSB are allowed to form Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies. Juniors, seniors, and graduate students who have achieved a high level of academic performance are considered for membership in this organization. Invitations are made to the top 10 percent (by GPA) of the College of Business' undergraduate junior and senior classes and to graduating MBA and MS students with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.9 (on a 4.0 = A scale).
