The University of Dallas Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery is pleased to present a symposium on the work of Robert Rauschenberg, in conjunction with its current exhibition, “Robert Rauschenberg: Four Decades of Works on Paper.” The exhbition is open until Nov. 3, 2013.
Presentations will begin at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Art History Auditorium.
• Catherine Craft, Adjunct Assistant Curator for Research and Exhibitions for the Nasher Sculpture Center. Craft has written widely about the artist, and has authored, most recently, “An Audience of Artists: Dada, Neo-Dada, and the Emergence of Abstract Expressionism.”
• David Newman, an artist working in printmaking, photography, their digital extensions, and works on paper, including book arts. Newman has also served as a long-time professor and gallery director in Dallas.
• Rachael Anderson, an M.A./M.F.A. candidate in the sculpture program at the University of Dallas, with a special research interest in innovations in sculpture.
Talks moderated by Catherine Caesar of the UD Art Department. The gallery will be open during the evening of the event and light refreshments will be served following the discussions.
