Human Resources Hosts Retirement, Social Security Planning Opportunities
In the next few weeks, Human Resources will host two opportunities for employees to
educate themselves about retirement planning. On Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 27-28,
financial counselors from TIAA-CREF, the retirement company that provides UD's retirement
program, will be on campus for individual financial counseling sessions. To reserve
a spot, call TIAA-CREF at 866-843-5640 on Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.7 p.m. On April
23, Spanish-speaking TIAA-CREF financial counselors will be available on campus for
individual counseling sessions.
Then, on Wednesday, March 6, a certified financial planner will present "Securing Social Security" from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Haggar Board Room. This presentation will cover the many decisions involved in claiming Social Security and provide strategies to maximize the benefits received. "While no preparation is necessary to attend the presentation on social security, employees might find it helpful to print off their personalized Social Security statement from www.ssa.gov," said Janis Townsend, director of human resources.
