IT Department Centralizes, Streamlines Procedures

PC SupportOver the summer, the three separate IT departments were re-organized into one central IT department reporting to Associate Provost Brian Murray.

"Bringing the IT talent from across campus together in one place facilitates more effective collaboration and makes it possible to support the university more efficiently," said Murray. "I am grateful to all faculty and staff for their support of the IT team."

Sabyasachi Sanyal is director of user support. He and his team, including Brad Weathered, Mike Adams and Jamie Wahkinney, assist PC users campus-wide with their computing needs. The User Support Office is now located in Gorman G next to the new print lab.

Vanessa Cox is director of online learning for the entire university community. Her job duties include managing Blackboard and eCollege system support, as well as other online learning system issues.

Rick Hayter is director of information technology. He leads a professional staff with responsibility for the university's database systems, network and IT infrastructure.

Procedures for user support have changed. Those in need of any technology, learning system or database support should email support@udallas.edu or call extension 5030 to have their request assigned to an IT staff member. Using this system helps the IT team better manage work flow and provide timely assistance.
