The Association of Graduate Programs in Ministry (AGPIM) will honor Marti Jewell, assistant professor of theology at the School of Ministry, with the 2013 "Called and Gifted" Award at its annual meeting, Feb. 21-24.
The award recognizes a record of longstanding achievement in support of graduate education in ministry. The recipient is selected on the basis of lasting contributions to conversations and research about ministry and representation of Catholic ministry to broader ecclesial and academic communities.
Jewell has taught at UD since 2009. Previously, she was the director of the Emerging Models of Pastoral Leadership Project, a national research project studying excellence in parish leadership. Co-author of "The Changing Face of Church" and "The Next Generation of Pastoral Leaders," which detail the findings of the Project, she also served as an agency director in the Archdiocese of Louisville from 1990-2003.
