The UD Psychology Department was recognized for the philosophical rigor of its undergraduate and graduate programs with the 2014 Charlotte and Karl Bühler Award from the Society for Humanistic Psychology (SHP).
"The psychology program at University of Dallas is everything we value in the SHP, situating psychology as both a liberal art and a rigorous science," said Maureen O'Hara, professor of psychology at National University and nominator of the UD Psychology Department.
Professor of Psychology Scott Churchill, who was nominated to receive the award on behalf of the Psychology Department, will travel to Washington, D.C., next year to accept the award and deliver an address at the American Psychological Association's annual convention.
The Charlotte and Karl Bühler Award is one of the most prestigious Annual Heritage Awards given out yearly by the Society for Humanistic Psychology. The Psychology Department is the 15th institution to receive the award.
