UD ROTC Club members will pay tribute during a May 27 Memorial Day celebration to UD alumni who have given their lives serving in any branch of the U.S. armed forces. To do so, they are asking for the UD community's help in identifying these alumni.
"We know how important it is to recognize the patriots of the United States on whose shoulders we stand today," said Club President Nick Hedlesky '14. "Those of us in the UD ROTC program are all training to be the next generation of officers, and we would like to recognize, at least in a small way, those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for today's America."
Club members are currently planning to read these names aloud on Memorial Day, as well as write their names in chalk on Braniff Mall.
Faculty and staff with knowledge of any alumni who have lost their lives serving in the armed forces are asked to email Hedlesky at firstname.lastname@example.org by May 20. Provide, if possible, each veteran's full name, dates of attendance at UD, branch of service, rate or rank and date and location of death.
