More than 200 local Catholics visited UD this weekend to hear Ricardo Grzona, long-time friend of Pope Francis and president of the Ramon Pane Foundation, speak about his book, "¡Jonás, conviertete!" ("Jonah, Repent!") and Pope Francis, whom he has known since 1977. On Friday, Grzona spoke to 35 local deacons and their wives at a reception.
On Saturday, 175 Spanish-speaking Catholics participated in a Gronza-led retreat led, which focused on the major theme of his book: listening to the voice of God. "Jonah, Repent!" was endorsed by Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio in January 2013.
"Many local deacons received their academic diaconate formation from the School of Ministry," said Oscar Carranza, director of School of Ministry marketing and events. "This reception was both to thank them for their service to the Church and to provide them with an opportunity to reconnect with one another at an informal reunion."
