The 2013 University of Dallas Ministry Conference (UDMC) at the Irving Convention Center from Oct. 25-26 will feature speakers from seven UD departments, demonstrating the university's continued commitment to serving the Catholic community of North Texas. Representatives from education, theology, history and physics, along with the School of Ministry, will be among the 80 national and local speakers presenting sessions throughout the two-day event.
"We are providing the Leadership and Management Track in direct response to a need within each sponsoring diocese—training in best practices in the management of people and finances, especially for those working or volunteering in parishes who may not have formal training in these areas," said Oscar Carranza, UDMC director.
Leadership and Management Track sessions will be facilitated by Director of Finance Leonard Robertson and Vice President and CFO Brian Murray. Sessions have been designed specifically for those in leadership and management roles throughout parishes in the dioceses of Dallas and Fort Worth.
Sessions of particular note include Professor of History Thomas Jodziewicz's "Catholic and American?", Professor of Physics Richard Olenick's "Creation: The Big Bang" and Professor of Theology Mark Lowery's "Marriage as a Sign of the Covenant and the Covenant as a Model for Marriage." Two administrative departments will also provide speakers.
