Uncoverings... is a thought-provoking exhibition about the power of art to communicate through seemingly quiet visual images. Simeen Ishaque was born and raised in Pakistan and Soody Sharifi in Iran. Although current residents of the United States both women feel themselves caught in the middle of the differences between Islamic and Western cultures. Ishaque and Sharifi have unique perspectives on the changes in the socio-political environment and how those changes affect the women's role in the world. This exhibition challenges our preconceptions of the Islamic culture provoking a dialogue about freedom of thought and speech.
