Drug facilitated sexual assault occurs when a drug or other chemical agent is used
to render a person unable to give consent.

Alcohol is the most commonly used drug in sexual assault and acquaintance rape.
Marijuana is a close second.
A person who is under even the slightest influence of alcohol or drugs may be at a
higher risk of being raped.
(S)he may not be as capable of protecting herself/himself.
Her/His perception of danger is distorted and it is more difficult to set limits and
communicate them clearly.
Her/His ability to resist physically is lessened.
The use of other drugs such as Rohypnol (Roofies, Rope), Ketamine (Special K, vitamin
K, lady K, kit kat), and GHB (Gamma-Oh, Easy Lay) makes it even easier to victimize
an individual.
These drugs are frequently put in a victim's drink without knowledge, rendering the
victim incapacitated and possibly unconscious within minutes.
These drugs are very dangerous because they can cause amnesia, seizures, respiratory
arrest, and even death.
