Life and Long-Term Disability Insurance


Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

The University of Dallas provides Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD & D) insurance equal to one time the employee's annual base pay up to $100,000 to all eligible employees. The University pays 100% of the cost for this coverage. Employees are automatically enrolled in Basic Life and AD & D upon becoming eligible.

Voluntary Life Insurance

Employees may also purchase Voluntary Employee and Dependent Life Insurance.

Benefits Coverage Available
Employee Voluntary Life $10,000 increments up to $300,000 or 5x salary (EOI required over $100,000)
Spouse Life $5,000 increments up to $50,000 or 50% of Voluntary Employee Coverage (EOI required over $30,000)
Child Life $10,000 per child (no EOI required)

To buy Spouse Life Insurance coverage, you must first elect Voluntary Life Insurance coverage for yourself. Spouse coverage cannot be more than 50% of your Voluntary Life coverage amount.

The cost of Voluntary Employee and Spouse Life insurance is based on the employee's age.

Child age 6 mos. To 19 years (age 25 if full-time student) $2.00 per month for $10,00 of coverage per family (includes all eligible children)

 

Long Term Disability Insurance
 
The University provides Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance to protect your income if you become disabled and unable to work for an extended period of time. In addition, you may purchase "buy-up" coverage to supplement this protection.

Benefit 50% of basic monthly earnings
Elimination Period 180 days
Maximum Benefit $2,500/month
LTD Buy-up
Benefit 60% of basic monthly earnings
Elimination Period 180 days
Maximum Benefit $5,000/month
