May 1, the National Candidate Reply Date, has arrived! If your student will be joining
the UD class of 2017, be sure to check out the various New Student web pages. There are also links to helpful lists of what to pack, important deadlines and
resources for more information about life on campus. Your student will hear more about
campus life when they come for orientation, scheduled to begin on Friday, August 30,
with new student move in! Through the New Student Forms web page you can access the various forms required of all new incoming students such as the
Medical History Form, the housing contract for campus residents and brief information
about the Please Don't Snore website. Students can use Please Don't Snore to submit
housing preferences and "meet" other students, as well as select a roommate. Confirmed
new students will later receive a separate email with login instructions to that web
site. Encourage your student to check their udallas.edu email once they receive their
username and password; this account will be used to communicate important information
throughout the summer.
Meanwhile, younger high school students can attend one of our summer programs, receiving college credit and studying with UD professors. Arete is a college preparatory program on our Irving campus, where students are immersed in classic Western literature and take advantage of supporting work in Dallas, such as Shakespeare in the Park. There are also two summer programs on our Rome campus, Latin in Rome and Shakespeare in Italy. Taught by UD professors who have lived and taught in Rome, these courses are an excellent opportunity for college preparation and credit as well as a glimpse into what life is like during the Rome semester.
Have a senior who's still undecided? We are accepting rolling applications through August 1 for the fall 2013 semester. Scholarships are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so encourage your student to apply as soon as possible.
