Throughout the Year of Faith, the Office of Campus Ministry and the Diocese of Dallas' Vocation Office have come together and sponsored a once a month Holy Hour for Vocations. This Holy Hour brings Catholics from all over the Diocese to the Church of the Incarnation for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, scripture reading, song and a short reflection on Vocations by local priests. There is a reception on the Church porch afterward which gives our students a chance to speak with a priest or religious sister about their own discernment.
New this year was a Marian Dinner on April 16. Several orders of Religious as well as single women belonging to lay Church movements sat at tables with our female undergraduate students. Also exciting was the attendance of other Catholic women from Southern Methodist University, the University of North Texas and Texas Women's University. All of the young women came to hear the varying vocation stories and ask questions while sharing a meal.
Bishop Kevin Farrell from the Dallas Diocese was also present throughout the evening. He began the meal with a prayer and ended the evening with a wonderful address to the 80 women in attendance. As he left, he went to each table to thank them for coming. It is our hope that this dinner become an annual event in the same way that the St. Andrew's Dinner is for the young men who are interested in learning about religious vocations.
