Fall 2014 Vendemmia and Santa Maria Maggiore Visit

On Wednesday, September 24, Fall Romers had the opportunity to participate in the annual "Vendemmia" or grape harvest of the Rome Campus vineyard. Following the harvest students headed into the city to visit the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore for their afternoon Art & Architecture class.

Fall 2014 Rome Campania Trip

Fall Romers set off on an educational trip to Campania over the weekend of September 12-14 where they visited Montecassino, Pompeii, the Almalfi coast and Paestum.

Fall 2014 Roman Forum and Colosseum Class Visit

Fall Romers participated in their first Art & Architecture site visit on Wednesday, September 10th as they ventured into Rome to tour the Roman Forum & Colosseum. The site visits were accompanied by lectures from Dr. Hatlie and Dr. Freni on the architectural and historical significance of the monuments.

Fall 2014 Rome Castelli Excursion, Wine Tasting

Students visited three hill towns of the Castelli Romani on Saturday afternoon: Castel Gandolfo, Nemi and the mountain top of Tuscolo. Following their Castelli excursion the students headed back to campus to be treated with an evening wine tasting and formal dinner on the campus grounds.

Fall 2014 Rome Scavenger Hunt, Dinner in Castelli

In their first full week in the city the students learned how to use public transportation and were challenged to a Scavenger Hunt by the Rome staff. After trekking around Rome for two hours the students headed to Lake Albano to end their evening with an Italian "fast food" feast.

Fall 2014 Rome Excursion to Cerveteri/Santa Severa

The fall Rome class attended their first site visit and lecture on Sunday, August 24. The students visited the Necropolis in Cerveteri in the morning and then headed off to spend their afternoon at the beach in Santa Severa.

Fall 2014 Romers Visit St. Peters, Go on Walking Tours of Rome

The day after their arrival the fall Rome class woke up early to visit St. Peter's Basilica. After Mass students split up into groups to tour the city with faculty and staff as their guides.

Fall 2014 Romers Arrive, Settle Into New Home

The fall 2014 Rome class arrived Rome the morning of August 22nd and began to settle in to their new home for the next four months. Their first day in Rome was filled with student orientation meetings, an opening mass and convocation and ended with their first official Italian meal on campus.

Arete: An Introduction to the Classics welcomed 31 high school students this summer to the Irving campus to study the noble life.
