The Catholic University for Independent Thinkers
The Greek Olympics are a long standing tradition at the UD Rome Campus. The day before
their departure for Greece the students dress in togas and gather on the soccer field
for an afternoon of competition and revelry. The student Olympians are divided into
teams and contend against each other in athletic, artistic, and creative games, such
as the Dizzy Bat Race, the Orange Pass, and the Shaving Cream Statue Competition.
The highlight of the afternoon came mid-game when Pope Benedict XVI took off from
Rome and flew right over campus as the students spelled out "Benedictus" on the soccer
field in their brightly-colored togas.
