Holy Week was a busy time for the Spring Romers. Thanks to the Rome Chaplain, Fr. David Brown, the students were given the opportunity to attend services in Rome celebrated by newly elected Pope Francis. The first service was held in the Piazza of St. Peter's to celebrate Palm Sunday, where the Holy Father blessed palms and olive branches. On the morning of Holy Thursday many attended the Chrism Mass at St. Peter's Basilica. That evening, for the start of the Easter Triduum, the students attended the Holy Thursday Mass at the Basilica of Saint John Lateran where the Holy Father washed the feet of twelve priests. On Good Friday many of the students returned to Rome to attend the celebration of the Passion of Christ in St. Peter's and at the Colosseum. To celebrate the end of Holy Week and the beginning of the Easter season, students attended either the Easter Vigil Mass on the evening of Saturday, or Easter Sunday Mass, both celebrated at St. Peter's. All of the Holy Week services were presided over by Pope Francis. The Spring Romers really made the most of this once in a lifetime experience, many of them staying in Rome the entire weekend!
