The Catholic University for Independent Thinkers
The Spring 2013 Romers have arrived! The students were greeted at Rome's Fiumicino
Airport by Vice Director Ryan Reedy and the Student Life staff. After loading the
luggage on buses the students set off for Campus. Although it was quite cold and pouring
rain outside, inside the warm bus the excitement grew as the students caught their
first view of the Roman countryside. Upon arriving at campus the students settled
into their dorm rooms and then filed into the mensa (cafeteria) for a buffet style Italian lunch. They ate quickly in order to spend
the afternoon exploring campus and attending orientation.
In the evening, students were formally welcomed with an opening Mass and an opening convocation in which words of wisdom were offered by Dr. Peter Hatlie, Director of the Rome Campus, Mr. Ryan Reedy, Vice Director, and Fr. David Brown, Campus Chaplain. The evening concluded with old and new friends coming together for a three-course dinner and some fantastic vino. The first among many delicious Italian meals to come!
