Master of Pastoral Ministry: Church Management Concentration

Master of Pastoral Ministry: Church Management Concentration

The Church Management concentration is especially helpful for present or future parish business administrators and diocesan business managers who desire a greater foundation in theology and ministerial practice, as well as for priests, deacons and pastoral associates who wish to strengthen their administrative and leadership skills.

Through field education and electives, this concentration provides ministers with theological, pastoral, financial, and managerial skills crucial for the efficient operation of churches and schools.

Church Management Curriculum:

In addition to the core courses, students are required to complete six credit hours of electives in approved business or ministry courses as well as the following courses as part of the Master of Pastoral Ministry with Church Management Concentration.

Ministry in the Church

TMIN 6370. Ministry in the Church: This course explores the contemporary phenomenon of ministry in the Catholic Church from the angles of theology and pastoral practice. Theological exploration focuses on biblical visions of ministry, the history of ministry in the church, and its doctrinal underpinnings and implications, especially in ecclesiology. Pastoral consideration reflects on attitudes, knowledge, and skills necessary for effective pastoral ministry in today's church. Integrating these perspectives, the course includes discussion of issues related to the contemporary ministerial scene and critical ecclesial documents on ministry formation.

Pastoral Ministry Internship

TMIN 7302. Pastoral Ministry Internship: This supervised placement in ministry provides a structured experience of field education. Working with a supervisor you will have a hands-on experience in ministry while developing yourself, your goals, and your understanding of this ministry field.  Students may register for the course more than once.
