Southwest Airlines' Vice President of People to Deliver Gupta College of Business

University to Welcome Influential Community Leader Julie Weber, BA ’91, as Featured

(IRVING, Texas) — University of Dallas Trustee Julie Weber, BA ’91, vice president
of People for Southwest Airlines, will address the graduate students of the Satish
& Yasmin Gupta College of Business during their spring commencement ceremony. The
ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, at Irving Bible Church.
“Julie is a wonderful example of leadership in our community,” said Gupta College
of Business Dean Brett J. L. Landry. “Not only does she play a pivotal role in developing
Southwest Airlines' talented workforce, but her commitment to the university as a
trustee, college advisory board member and alumna is unparalleled. We are honored
to have her deliver the commencement address."
Weber has over 20 years of domestic and international human resources experience,
beginning her career in human resources with Babich and Associates in Dallas. She
then joined MetaSolv Software in 1996, serving as vice president of human resources
from 2000-06. Weber began her time at Southwest as director of employment, most recently
serving as senior director of people before moving to her current position. She earned
a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Dallas in 1991 and a master's
degree in counseling psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1993.
Weber joined the University of Dallas Board of Trustees last year and has contributed
invaluable knowledge and experience while continuing to advance the university's mission.
