The University of Dallas has partnered with the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP)® to offer the strongest Certified Treasury Professional (CTP)® exam preparation available. Through our 36-hour preparation course, gain the knowledge you need to sit for the CTP exam while you:

  • learn practical information and real life examples that can apply in your daily job immediately;
  • receive thorough preparation from an accredited university; and
  • join a network of some of the top finance professionals in the nation.

  • Classroom areas arranged to provide 6 feet of space between all attendees, as well as lunch and coffee breaks. 

Meet Your Instructor

Ernest SmithErnest L. Smith, CTP, M.B.A.

Ernest L. Smith is senior vice president, North Texas regional sales manager at BBVA Compass. Smith is responsible for a staff of 10 TM professionals, providing TM product sales and support to clients in the North Texas region. Before joining BBVA Compass, Smith spent 16 years at JPMorgan Chase, including six years as a Commercial Banker and three years as a Private Client Advisor. Prior to Chase, he spent three years at South Main Bank as Credit Officer and Compliance Officer. Smith has 23 years of banking experience and 15 years of treasury management experience. He received his B.S.B.A. in Finance from the University of Arizona and his MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

Smith has been teaching CTP exam preparation at the University of Dallas since 2011. He is active in the local AFP chapter and has been part of the committee that reviews test questions on the actual CTP exam.

Early Bird Discount:

Students can earn an early bird discount by completing the registration process (including full payment) by the early bird deadline. The early bird period ends 30 days from the start of the class. In order to qualify for the early bird discount, students must fill out and submit the online registration form, and submit full payment prior to the early bird deadline (see registration deadline section for deadline information). 

Discounts:

Discounts are offered for UD Alumni and Students, UD Employees, Government Employees (federal and local), US Veterans, and AFP or FPA Dallas members. To qualify for the discount, students will be asked to provide an active .edu or .gov email; UD ID; or membership number.

Materials can only be shipped (via FedEx) once payment has been received.

The University of Dallas can accept cash, check, or credit card payments. We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express using our online payment portal. Cash is accepted at our Business Office ONLY. Checks can be mailed to:

Payment Arrangement

For students who need a little help, we have a payment arrangement option available. This allows tuition to be broken down into multiple payments. Executive Education students who wish to participate will be required to fill out an additional online form during the registration process.

The payment arrangement splits tuition as follows:

  • Payment 1: $500
  • Payment 2: $500
  • Payment 3: $500
  • Payment 4: $125

If a discount applies to you it will be deducted as part of the final payment.

Our partner the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP)® is registered with the National Association of State Board of Accountancy (NASBA), and is listed on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors as a sponsor of continuing professional education (CPE). AFP is certified for “group live” and “group internet-based” offerings to qualify for CPE.

Registry ID for AFP: 103484 

Only contact hours spent in instruction at the University of Dallas for CTP® or FP&A® preparation classes can count towards CPE, up to approved maximums. Hours spend in self-study in the online course materials do not qualify. Students who earn CPE will self-report.

Treasury Learning System

Maximum Credits Accepted: 18
If you earned your CTP prior to 2017, you can earn 18 CPE credits by taking the University of Dallas Certified Treasury Professional course. To earn the credits, you must purchase the most current edition of the AFP Learning System™ (Treasury) materials and earn your certificate of completion from the University of Dallas. You are required to self-report. Exam Candidates are not able to earn these credits by taking an Instructor-Led course. Accepted Documentation: Certificate of Completion

FP&A Learning System

Maximum Credits Accepted: 18
CTPs can earn 18 CPE credits by taking the University of Dallas Certified Financial Analyst & Planner (FP&A) Professional course. To earn the credits, you must purchase the most current edition of the AFP Learning System™ (FP&A) materials and earn your certificate of completion from the University of Dallas. You are required to self-report. Accepted Documentation: Certificate of Completion
