Clare Boothe Luce Program

Clare Boothe Luce Scholarship Program for University of Dallas Women Majoring in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering

Program Description

The Henry Luce Foundation has provided a grant for eight one-year full-tuition scholarships for female students at the University of Dallas majoring in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering. These scholarships are named Clare Boothe Luce (CBL) Scholarships and students receiving these scholarships will be named CBL Scholars. The University of Dallas has offered an additional award to supplement the Henry Luce Foundation grant to provide ten CBL Scholarships to be awarded during academic years 2015-2016 through 2018-2019.

The CBL Scholarships show female students in a tangible way that their dedication to these areas of study is important and will give them the confidence to continue their studies in graduate school. The students who receive one-year full-tuition CBL Scholarships must meet established merit criteria and are encouraged to commit to service to provide further support to female students in areas of study underrepresented by women while they are still students at the University of Dallas and as their careers are established.

In addition to the scholarships, the University will establish a Clare Boothe Luce Speaker Series, Clare Boothe Luce Discussion Panels for Undecided Students, and a support organization for women in the sciences.  These initiatives are designed to attract women into physical science, engineering, and mathematical areas and to support them once there.
