SOM Congratulates the Newest Permanent Deacons of Shreveport

Shreveport DeaconsThe School of Ministry would like to extend its congratulations to the newest permanent deacons of the Diocese of Shreveport. The SOM was honored to provide the academic component of their formation in preparation for the diaconate. 

We would also like to congratulate Nadalie Thomas and Jane Himel who were awarded Certificates in Adult Faith Formation for their completion of the academic requirements as well. Jim McGill, Janice Kay Peterson Professor of Applied Ministry at the School of Ministry, presented Nadalie and Jane with their awards on June 28, 2014, during the Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate ceremony in Shreveport, LA.

Parents Support University in Late Daughter's Memory

Mike Kiegerl's youngest daughter, Christine, would have graduated from UD in the Class of 1994, but just before her graduation, she was struck by an impaired truck driver and died instantly. Kiegerl and his wife, Peggy, established the Christine S. Kiegerl Memorial Scholarship in their girl's memory in 1997.
