Kiplinger's Magazine Names UD a 2015 Best Value for Academics, Reasonable Cost

Kiplinger 2015

Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine has included the University of Dallas on its list of the country's best value liberal arts colleges for 2015. The publication's annual list, which was released Wednesday, Dec. 17, ranks 300 public, private and liberal arts colleges and universities that provide high-quality academics at a reasonable cost.

The University of Dallas is one of only seven Catholic institutions and three in Texas to make the list of liberal arts colleges. This is the university's third year to be ranked by Kiplinger's.

"We're excited to be recognized once again by Kiplingers Personal Finance," said John Plotts, vice president for enrollment and student affairs. "Our small class sizes and high freshman retention and four-year graduation rates make the University of Dallas a best value for college students."

Kiplinger's rankings measure academic quality and affordability. Academic criteria include the student admission rate, the test scores of incoming freshmen, the ratio of students to faculty members and four-year and five-year graduation rates. Kiplinger's measures the cost to attend, the availability and average amount of need-based and merit-based financial aid and the average student debt at graduation.

Already this year, the university has been recognized by the Princeton Review as fifth in the "Most Religious Students" category and eighth in the "Most Popular Study Abroad Program" category. US News & World Report recognized UD as 13th among 120 other regional universities in the West Region and second among 31 other regional universities in Texas.
