FalloWeen

Date Published: Oct. 18, 2016

With midterms this week there are only a handful of events taking place on our Irving campus. Before looking ahead to what events are happening this week, though, we would like to thank our alumni and families for celebrating another wonderful Alumni & Family Weekend. We look forward to having you again next year!

Now let’s talk about what’s happening this week.

UD’s volleyball team squares off against Dallas Christian College at the Maher Athletic Center Tuesday at 7 p.m. Come support our lady Crusaders.

Friday we have this year’s annual Fall-O-Ween Fest, perfect for families and students alike, starting at 6 p.m. Walk through a haunted house of horrors, enjoy the trunk-or-treat, carnival games, henna, face painting and, of course, plenty of candy.

Also Friday, the UD community is invited to this year’s 18th Annual Landregan Lecture, which celebrates the 800th jubilee year of the Southern Dominican Province. The lecture starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at the DFW Marriott Hotel, and features three notable speakers:  Fr. Bruno Cadoré, O.P., Master of the Order of Preachers, Fr. Gustavo Gutiérrez, O.P., known as the "father of liberation theology" and Paul Farmer, the internationally recognized humanitarian physician and co-founder of Partners in Health. Advanced tickets are required and going fast.

And, finally, Oktoberfest is this weekend on Saturday, which begins at 9 p.m. and ends early Sunday morning at 1 a.m.  Dust off your steins, bring out the family and enjoy a night at the biergarten with live music and craft beer. Between 8-9 p.m. you can partake in the beer tasting.

For a complete listing please visit UD’s calendar of events.
