The University of Dallas welcomes eight new faculty members this 2018-19 academic year. Their knowledge and insights will further enrich the university in several areas, including biology, business, economics, ministry, theology and the library.
Susannah Bingham Buck, faculty reference librarian in the Cowan-Blakley Memorial Library, received her master’s in library and information science from the University of Illinois and is a doctoral candidate at Drew University (New Jersey) studying book history. Her research interests include marginalia in religious texts in the late hand press period. She previously completed graduate-level studies at l'École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris after receiving her bachelor's in history from Brigham Young University. Buck started at UD in December 2017 as a part-time reference librarian.
Julia Fulmore, assistant professor of management in the Gupta College of Business, is a doctoral candidate in human resource development with a specialization in organizational development and change at the University of Texas at Tyler. She holds a master’s in human resource management and an MBA from Texas A&M University at Central Texas. Her research interests are organizational commitment, organizational ethics, organizational culture and statistical methods. She has six years of teaching experience as an adjunct professor of both online and face-to-face management courses.
Jodi G. Hunt, Ph.D., affiliate assistant professor of ministry in the Neuhoff School of Ministry, holds a doctorate in religious education from Fordham University, a master’s in theology from Oblate School of Theology and a bachelor’s in anthropology from Texas A&M University. Prior to joining UD, Hunt taught theology and religious studies at Antonian College Preparatory in San Antonio and Fordham Preparatory in the Bronx, New York, and was most recently the director of admissions at the Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education at Fordham University. Hunt has also worked with various dioceses and parishes training lay ecclesial ministers.
Malcolm Kass, Ph.D., affiliate assistant professor of economics in Constantin College, received his doctorate in economics from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2016 and joins UD from his position as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Texas at Arlington. Using experimental economics techniques, Kass studies how different institutions can promote cooperative outcomes and decision making in exploitative environments. He worked at UD as an adjunct professor in 2017-2018, teaching public finance, intermediate microeconomics and econometrics.
Michele M. Meny, MTS ’14, affiliate instructor of ministry in the Neuhoff School of Ministry, holds a Master of Theological Studies from UD and a bachelor's in accounting from the University of Kentucky. Meny has worked at UD for the past four years, most recently as director of the Neuhoff School of Ministry Continuing Education Department. She has extensive ministerial and business experience, having worked in parish ministry as well as the corporate world. She has been an adjunct professor at UD since 2015.
Sister Mary Angelica Neenan, O.P., S.T.D., affiliate assistant professor of theology in Constantin College, earned a Doctor of Sacred Theology (with a focus in moral theology) from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, the Angelicum, in 2011, as well as a Licentiate of Sacred Theology and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology. She has been teaching theology at Aquinas College in Nashville since 2007, and has served in other assignments such as directing the study abroad program for Aquinas College in Bracciano, Italy, from 2014-2017. Sister Mary Angelica is also a trained portrait painter and enjoys painting and drawing, and received her first undergraduate degree in fine arts from Belmont University in Nashville. She is delighted to join the Theology Department faculty.
Drew Stenesen, Ph.D., assistant professor of biology in Constantin College, earned his doctorate in genetics and development from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (2011) and bachelor’s degrees in cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry from the University of Washington in Seattle (2005). Stenesen spent this past academic year as an affiliate assistant professor at UD and was recruited to the tenure track in the spring. Stenesen brings to the Biology Department research expertise in the fields of neuroscience and human disease modeling and is looking forward to hosting the second annual University of Dallas Plasma Membrane Model contest on campus next spring.
Inimary Toby, Ph.D., assistant professor of biology in Constantin College, holds a doctorate in biomedical science from Ohio State University College of Medicine. Her postdoctoral training was at the FAA-Civil Aerospace Medical Institute in Oklahoma City. Toby went on to work as a staff scientist specializing in computational biology and bioinformatics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She also organized materials for bioinformatics education programs as part of a National Institute of Health-INBRE grant. Prior to coming to UD, Toby worked for several years on an NIH-funded project as a computational biologist at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, developing training workshops, webinars and nanocourses as part of the project. Additionally, she served as a contributing scientist to help establish standard practices for data reporting and data analysis of immune repertoire sequence data. She plans to leverage this unique technology in her research program and to also build upon the experimental model that she developed earlier in her career. Toby’s research interests are in human adaptation mechanisms relating to hypoxia and signaling consequences that occur at the cellular/molecular level in lung diseases.
