The group exhibition Of a Feather showcases the rich relationship between birds and
the artists who love them. Birds have long held a prominent place in art: physically
they fascinate with their visual beauty, flight, music, and dance, and symbolically
they function as harbingers of death, keepers of secrets (“‘a little bird told me”),
and, like the dove, bearers of peace.
Featuring artists Kathy Boortz, Isabelle Du Toit, Billy Hassell, Mark Messersmith,
and Melodee Ramirez this exhibition celebrates a very contemporary expression of the
unique coloring, exciting patterns, and distinctive silhouettes of these winged creatures.
The exhibition will run April 5 – May 5, 2019, at the Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery
with the opening reception on Friday, April 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Gallery
