Sex Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Violence

The University of Dallas does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its educational and employment programs and activities, and it does not tolerate discrimination or harassment on the basis of sex. University policy prohibits sex-based discrimination and harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate partner violence, stalking, and retaliation ("prohibited conduct").

Every individual, precisely by reason of the mystery of the Word of God who was made flesh (cf. Jn 1:14), is entrusted to the maternal care of the Church. Therefore every threat to human dignity and life must necessarily be felt in the Church's very heart; it cannot but affect her at the core of her faith in the Redemptive Incarnation of the Son of God, and engage her in her mission of proclaiming the Gospel of life in all the world and to every creature (cf. Mk 16:15). - St. John Paul II, Evangelium vitae, no. 3

Confidential Assistance

Our first priority is to provide and connect victims of prohibited conduct with the resources they may need as they work through a difficult time. While the University encourages all possible victims of prohibited conduct to report the incident to the Title IX Coordinator, we recognize that sometimes a person may want to seek confidential assistance. The University has designated various "confidential reporters" who members of the University community can go to in order to get information and support, without the details of their report being relayed to the Title IX Coordinator for possible investigation. The following employees are confidential reporters:

  • On-campus licensed professional counselors and staff
  • On-campus health service providers and staff
  • Vowed religious (priests, deacons, and religious sisters and brothers), including the University Chaplain, when providing pastoral services
  • Staff in the Office of Campus Ministry

Reporting Prohibited Conduct

Reports of prohibited conduct may be made in many different ways. There is no time limitation on the filing of allegations. However, if the person alleged to have committed the prohibited conduct is no longer subject to the University's jurisdiction, its ability to investigate, respond, and provide remedies may be more limited.

  • You may report directly to the Title IX Coordinator or a Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
  • You may report any complaint, including an anonymous complaint, using the online reporting form posted at udallas.edu/complaint and https://secure.ethicspoint.com/domain/media/en/gui/19779/index.html, or by calling toll-free to the University’s Compliance Reporting Hotline at (888) 317-8072.
  • You may report a complaint to various other individuals and offices on and off campus. Except for specifically designated "confidential reporters," all employees of the University (faculty and staff) are expected to relay complaints and allegations of prohibited conduct to the Title IX Coordinator.

The University always seeks to maintain the privacy of those involved in the reporting and complaint process, keeping in mind the University's obligation to protect the entire University community.
