Project Overview: The Making of an Icon

With views oriented toward the Braniff Memorial Tower, Braniff Mall and the lushly landscaped lawns, Cardinal Farrell Hall will consolidate several student service needs and administrative offices under one roof. The building will create opportunities for exceptional student services and administrative outreach and leadership, reflecting the university’s vision for its future.

Exterior Features Constructed primarily of brick, zinc panels and glass in an architectural style that complements existing buildings and landscape

Integrated indoor and outdoor spaces; 12,000 square feet of patio and terrace space, as well as a two-story pergola running along the entire length of two sides of the building

Other prominent ground-level features: stepped seating suitable for classes taught outdoors and an infinity edge water feature

Interior Features Student-oriented interior spaces flooded with natural light and designed for flexibility and collaboration

First Floor: Two three-story-tall glass entryways lead to a main foyer of white terrazzo tile. A student-focused “Main Street” provides convenient, one-stop access to financial aid, registration, student accounts and student employment services.

Second Floor: Three classrooms have been designed for three teaching styles: traditional seminar to facilitate open discussion, experiential learning for small breakout group discussions and activities, and a computer/technology lab. A state-of-the-art multipurpose/board room with a terrace patio offers unobstructed views of Braniff Mall, and the Provost’s Suite completes the floor.

Third Floor: An executive suite is home to the President’s Office. The Office of Development and University Relations, which includes development, alumni relations and marketing and communications, occupies the building’s east side.

Sustainability & Energy Efficiency

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification standards will be applied with the goal of achieving LEED Silver certification; LEED is a set of rating systems of green buildings as outlined by the United States Green Building Council.

Design, construction, operation and maintenance will support the university’s commitment to energy efficiency, water conservation and green architecture.
