The 2013 school year is in full swing!

It was amazing to greet parents, grandparents and siblings who were on campus attending this year's Alumni & Family Weekend. We were honored to host you at UD! We hope you had an opportunity to spend time with your student, learn more about UD and enjoy some of the activities we had planned for you. We would like to get your feedback about the weekend. Please complete our short evaluation to help us plan for future Alumni & Family Weekends. Complete the evaluation HERE.

Mid-semester exams are right around the corner and with them brings a lot of stress and anxiety for college students. As they begin their test preparations, encourage them to meet with their professors to discuss how their classes are going. Scroll down to learn more about how you can help your student tackle upcoming exams.

Cold and flu season is beginning, and students on campus are being affected. For more information about preventative measures, including the flu shot, click HERE.

There is more to health than just the physical side. Going off to college for the first time can be a daunting ordeal for many students. Leaving home, being away from family and friends and sharing a room with someone you have never met before all seem like a lot to deal with. In addition to those stressors, your student must focus on the increasing challenges of college classes. If you have concerns about how your student is handling college life, trained professionals in the Counseling Center are here to help. All services are free of charge. For more information, please visit the Counseling Center webpage

The Office of Student Affairs recently implemented a First Year Program to provide support and resources to first-year students, both inside and outside of class. UD's First Year Program emphasizes the total development of students - spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, physical and vocational. The purpose of the program is to assist and guide freshmen into a better understanding of the changes and demands of this year and the years ahead, and to offer perspective and insight into some of the changes they will encounter. Be sure to check out UD's Student Affairs Facebook page to stay informed of all that the Office of Student Affairs has to offer.

Now that the school year is in full swing, we would like to remind families that the Office of Financial Aid webpage is a great resource for any financial aid questions. Also available on our website is a scholarship list that includes links and applications for scholarships offered by outside organizations throughout the year, as well as scholarship search engines. Remember that scholarships are not limited to high school seniors.

The Office of Undergraduate Admission has a lot going on during the month of October. Click HERE to read more about recruitment and visit weekends for prospective students and their families.

The university and Uber, a company that connects your student to car service via a mobile application, are working together to provide opportunities for your students to have safe and expedient transportation when they need it. Click HERE to read more about this partnership.

There has been a lot of activity on the Parent & Family Facebook page. If you haven't joined, you are missing out! Interested? Please click HERE.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. We are here for YOU!

Until next time...
