Northern Italy Trip

Northern Italy Trip

Date Published: Nov. 8, 2017

FlorenceWith last travel weekends and final exams quickly approaching, the Northern Italy Trip is a welcome 5 days to travel for one last time as an entire Rome class. Taking one night in Assisi, and two nights in both Florence and Venice, the Fall 2017 class got to explore and learn about some of the most major Italian towns and cities after their home base of Rome.

The Northern Italy trip differentiates itself from the first two class trips to Paestum and Greece in that it aims to be more leisurely, with fewer lectures and greater free time. It also lends itself to being a more intimate travel experience, as students break into small group tours led by faculty and student affairs staff. In both Florence and Venice, students take an orientation tour of the city as well as a sight tour, for which they signed up before the trip. Thus, in addition to mandatory visits to sites such as the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, students have the ability to tailor their trip to sites that they find particular, individual interest in.

With generous amounts of time to explore the cities, shop, and visit museums, the Northern Italy trip is an enjoyable respite before the class buckles down to finish their coursework.
